Zalul Wins Again
After a long battle in which the Eilot Regional Council demanded the area called the "Sun Gulf" for the purpose of marine-culture, in an attempt to bypass the decision of TAMA 13 (national building plan) to remove marine-culture from the Red Sea, the Borders Committee decide to adapt Zalul's stance and not to allow the land exchange.
In the past year, the Eilat municipality and the Eilot Regional Council began negotiations for land exchange. The objective was to give Eilot a certain beach that would allow them to continue their marine-culture which is destroying the reef in the Gulf of Eilat. In exchange for this, the city of Eilat would receive a large amount of land for development. As a result of the negotiation, Zalul began its battle to attempt to stop the exchange and not allow the Eilot Regional Council to bypass the instructions of the TAMA 13, which forbids marine-culture in the entire Gulf of Eilat.
Zalul will continue to fight in order to preserve the small stretch of beach Israel has along the Red sea for the purpose of leisure and tourism, just as the government dictated when they it to approve the TAMA 13.
