Ezer Fischler Appointed to CEO of Zalul Environmental Association of Israel
Ezer Fischler, age 37 years old, holds a Bachelor’s Degree with honors in Geography and Enviromental Studies from Haifa University, and a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from the Technion. Fischler began at Zalul five years ago, and has served as Vice President of the organization since 2008. During his time at Zalul, Ezer has been a part of many environmental struggles, including the struggle fight to save the coral reefs of Eilat; rehabilitate the Na’aman River; stop the pollution of the Lachish River; save the Gulf of Akko; return water to the Kishon River; and found "The Blue Watch" volunteer group of Zalul. According to Fischler, “The role of the Executive Director of Zalul includes a great deal of complex and unique missions, and is an additional milestone in the mission to design Israel’s environmental policy and to create a better place to live for future generations. For the past thirteen years I have worked to promote environmental issues in Israel, and have realized that for residents of Israel, there is a long way to go until the moment when we can enjoy an environment without threats, a goal that I have set and that I aspire to achieve.” The chairman of Zalul, Mr. Benjamin Kahn said, “The challenges of protecting the environment in Israel are increasing and thus the role of Zalul is also to be a part of public life in Israel is increasingly important. Ahead of Ezer are significant challenges in the areas of the sea, rivers, and many other areas of environmental protection. I am convinced that Zalul, under Ezer’s command, will continue and succeed to bring about improvements in the quality of life of the residents of Israel.”
