Over 100 supporters join Zalul to protest sea pollution at Frishman Beach in Tel Aviv 6.3.09
Friday's protest was a huge success! Despite the heat over a 100 people showed up to protest the pollution that has closed Tel Aviv and Herzliya's beaches for over three weeks. A new member of Knesset, Nitzan Horowitz, from Meretz joined us to show his support as did veteran Knesset Member and environmental advocate Ophir Pines-Paz from Labor.
You can view pictures from the protest on Zalul's Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/zalul
The protest recieved some great media attention, here are a few bits to watch (in Hebrew) from the weekend news: Thursday on Channel 10 (video) Friday on Channel 2 with Yair Lapid (video) (watch from minute 6:00 for the story on the protest)
A number of groups joined us in support, including the surfing school TopSea that is based on Tel Aviv's Gordon Beach. In a surprise appearance, Critical Mass joined us on their bikes in solidarity as well. Thank you again to everyone who joined us! Your voice makes a difference! |
