
International underwater clean-up in the Gulf of Eilat
Zalul Association, Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority, PADI, the Ministry of Environment and Ocean Foundation organized the biggest underwater clean-up in the history of the Gulf of Eilat.
The underwater clean-up took place on Saturday, September 16th 2006 and was part of the international underwater clean-up day. 130 divers cleaned up approximately 3.5 tons of waste that gathered at the bottom of the sea.
The underwater clean-up was also supported by the local dive centers who supplied all the divers air for their tanks and special bags with which to gather the waste.
